报告摘要:Like theclassic conforming finite element methods, the weak Galerkin (WG) finiteelement methods are general methods for solving partial differential equationsarising in science and engineering. The WG method is a natural extension of theclassic Galerkin finite element method for the function with discontinuity.Therefore, the weak Galerkin methods have the flexibility of employingdiscontinuous elements and, at the same time, share the simplicity of conformingfinite element formulations. The purpose of this presentation is to introducebasis concept of the weak Galerkin methods, their recent developments andrelations with other finite element method such as DG and HDG method.
报告人简介:Prof. Ye obtained her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematicsfrom the University of Pittsburgh. She was a lecturer in the Department ofMechanical Engineering, the University of Pittsburgh from 1989-1990,and apostdoc fellow in the Department of Material Science Engineering from May 1991to Aug 1991. After that, she joined the University of Arkansas at Little Rockas an assistant professor. She was promoted to associate professor in 1996 andfull professor in 1999. She has published more than 100 papers with around 3000citations. She was the co-inventor of the weak Galerkin method, which waswidely regarded as the most important finite element method ever designed.
